Saskatoon and Regina Release April MLS® System Stats

The April MLS® System statistics for Regina and Saskatoon were released this week. While the number of sales were down in both cities, the average price went up slightly.

Does anyone have any comments on the market or predictions on what they think will happen in the balance of the year? We welcome your comments.

  1. I think the housing prices in Sask. have risen too quickly. I think it is a bubble that is going to burst in the future. Usually when house prices double like this within 2 to 3 years , you eventually see them come down little by little every year. With house taxes being so high in Sask. it will be difficult for people to afford the high house prices and the high taxes.

  2. Thanks for your comments. Bear in mind that the prices have gone up significantly in the last 5 years but only after many years of staying very stable. Also, incomes in Saskatchewan have also been going up at a higher rate than the rest of the country. I agree with you about the taxes being high but don't see prices going down as demand is expected to exceed supply for some time. It will be interesting to see how the next few years plays out.
